Soul Source Records

Unter diesem Label veröffentliche ich seit 1996 meine eigenen Platten an einer kopf- beziehungsweise augenlastigen Schnittstelle von Musik, (Jugend)Kultur und bildender Kunst.

Sie bestehen aus Karton, Hartfaser oder Schichtholz und Acryllack; den visuellen Klang der Plattenrille zeichne ich in einer durchgehenden Linie freihändig mit Blei- oder Silberstift auf.

Für die Tafelbilder verwende ich auch Öl- und Temperafarbe und male die Klangrillen mit Klarlack auf.

Die Songtitel spielen mit der Verschiebung bildnerischer Inhalte in den musikalischen Kontext und umgekehrt.

Es handelt sich dabei um eigene Songs, wie ‚The Sound of Painting‘ oder ‚Künstlerhouse‘, aber auch um Neuarrangements bekannter Nummern wie etwa ‚Anything Goes‘ von Cole Porter, oder ‚Nice Work (If You can get it)‘ von George und Ira Gershwin.

I have been publishing my own records since 1996 with this label at a brain-, or rather eye-heavy interface between music, youth culture, and visual arts.

They are made of cardboard, hardboard, or plywood and acrylic paint. The tone grooves are drawn freehand in one continuous line using a pencil or silver pen.

For the plates I use oil or tempera, and I paint the tone grooves with clear varnish.

The song titles play with the shift of the visual content into the musical context or vice versa.

I do original songs like ‘The Sound of Painting’ or ‘Künstlerhouse’, as well as new arrangements of known numbers like ‘Anything Goes’ by Cole Porter, or ‘Nice Work (If You can get it) ’ by George and Ira Gershwin.
