Auf zum Schloß

Für diese Ausstellung in der Galerie Schloß Damtschach, Wernberg (im Rahmen meines Kärntenprojektes „globalokal") habe ich die Verbindung von Kunst und Fußball weiter entwickelt:

Zuerst hatte ich entdeckt, dass sich aus all den im New York-Text (Am Ball) vorkommenden Namen, zu Bedeutungsfeldern geordnet (zum Beispiel österreichische Künstler in New York City, New Yorker Galerien, MusikerInnen und so fort), just ein klassischer Fußball aus Fünf- und Sechsecken konstruieren ließe.

Nach der Überprüfung dieser Idee an einem realen Fußball (das Modell befindet sich in der Sammlung von Rudi Molacek), war mir ein befreundeter Experte behilflich, das Netzwerk (mit den damaligen Mitteln) grafisch umzusetzen.

For this exhibition in the gallery at Schloss Damtschach near Wernberg, and within the framework of my Carinthian project “globalokal”, I took the combination of art and football one step further:

At first I had discovered that all the names mentioned in the New York-based text (Am Ball), when set into correspondence with certain semantic fields (e.g. Austrian artists in New York city, New York galleries, musicians and so forth), could be used to construct a classic football composed of pentagons or hexagons.

After testing this idea on an existing football (the model is in the collection of Rudi Molacek), I had the help of a friend and expert in the field to arrive at the graphic realisation of the gridwork, with the means available at the time.
