In search of the lost ball

was a communications project within the Styrian regional exhibition entitled “Wallfahrt” (“pilgrimage”), which I carried out with Ursula Graf in Pöllau in Styria.

At the opening, a team of artists played against the women's team of FC Eichberg - the regional champions of the 1992/93 season, no less!

This legendary match was played before hundreds of spectators and ended in a draw of 7:7.

The women's team's substitute bench had been seriously decimated by the pregnancies of 80% (!) of the original team members following the championship win. At half time, they stood at 0:7.

Then the enfant terrible of styrian football and incipient star trainer Adi Pinter came to the aid of the women's team, and the artists' side finally got the message that the spectators' affections could only be saved through restraint on their part.

Though a bit rough in terms of orchestration, but in any case better than submitting to a thrashing by the artists, the women caught up goal by goal. Just before the art team might have scored the winning goal, the referee blew the whistle - six minutes before time, exploiting the conciliatory state of play.
